AJK citizens reject Joint Awami Action Committee's call for protest

Summary Citizens of Azad Kashmir have pronounced their disagreement with the (Joint Awami Action Committee) JAAC over the recent unrest

MUZAFFARABAD (Dunya News) - The people of Azad Kashmir condemned the JAAC (Joint Awami Action Committee) for creating unrest in the valley.

The JAAC workers clashed with the law enforcement agencies in Rawalkot in recent days resulting in the death of two people and injuries to eight others. The JAAC workers forced traders to shut down their business, affecting small traders and others.

The JAAC seeks a delay in the local AJK elections and the abolition of 12 refugee seats in the Legislative Assembly.

Traders rejected their anti-state move and refused to close down thier businesses aand urged the JAAC workers not to indulge in anti-state acts.

Meanwhile, a statement issued by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, calls for peace and urged the protestors not to harm public property and the innocent people. He stressed upon them to negotiate with authorities to resolve issues. He told them that parliament is the right forum to resolve difference in a democratic political way.

He has also called on the Election Commission to withdraw the election schedule.

The people of Azad Kashmir say they stand with the state and law enforcement and will not support any illegal action against the country.
